Friday Favs

Friday, July 29, 2016

Happy Friday Everyone! I have been counting down to this day since well Sunday. This weekend should be filled with Birthday celebrations for J and a whole lot of baby daddy love. I am so proud of this guy and everything that he accomplished. He makes this baby momma proud everyday. So here's to Friday and my favs.

One. I made this Coconut Pie last night for J because he needed something sweet and it was simple to whip up really fast. I took it out of the oven let it cool for about 20 minutes then turned around and half the pie was gone.

Two. Today J and his stepdad who is a contractor will be looking at the house again. I am so excited and hope that it passes the inspection. I really am in love with this house and think it could totally be the house that we retire in.

Three. Our Gender Reveal Party is exactly two weeks away..... Did you hear me TWO WEEKS. I am so ready to find out what this peanut is. I have already purchased a few gender neutral gray items but now we can start buying sweet little colored items and pick out nursery items.

Four. We paid off my Hyundai Santa Fe this week and I am so super pumped to have a paid off car. This is the first time in a long time that I don't have to make a car payment. We hope to start paying double on my hubby's car and get that paid off. I want to have one car payment at a time instead of the normal two. Oh the problems of being a adult.

Five. I need some new foundation ideas. I have been using Tarte and I love it but want to try something new. I really am leaning more towards the Naked Skin One and Done. It's pretty much primer, foundation, and SPF in one. What do you guys use?

I hope you have a great weekend!

Thursday Confessions

Thursday, July 28, 2016

I confess.... that I went to bed at 8:30 last night and when my husband came to bed he asked if I was asleep and I told him no. This may have been right after I woke myself up snoring.

I confess.... that I made my Mother in Law's squash casserole recipe and my husband tried to pull the it's not my moms but it is good deal. He may have been punched for that but I really wanted to rip his head off.

I confess.... that it is getting harder and harder to walk the two blocks uphill to my car everyday. I half to stop halfway because of the 100 degree weather. I feel so out of shape.

I confess....that we had the gender blood work done this week because I am scared that they may not be able to tell 100% what the baby is before our gender reveal and that scares me.

I confess.... my I am still wearing my pre-pregnancy pants unbuttoned and someone totally noticed yesterday. She then decided to tell me maybe I should switch to maternity pants.... Insert middle finger.

I confess.... that I am so ready for J to go look at that house again tomorrow so we can put in a offer on it. It is stressing me out so much.

Weekend Rewind

Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Wow this weekend felt like it came and went in the blink of a eye. We spent pretty much the whole weekend house hunting and were not disappointed with our results. We are both pretty tough critics and it is difficult to get us both to agree on something. Well I think we may have found one that we both agreed on. Shut up I know!

Let me be the first to introduce you to the newest possible Casa Del Pfeil. We are taking a inspector by Friday to answer a few last questions then it off to the offer market. This home has everything that we want plus more! Please say a prayer that it works out.

Friday Favs

Friday, July 22, 2016

Happy Friday Everyone. I have been waiting for this day for 3 weeks. We get to check on peanut today and nothing makes me happier!! Well other than naps! So since it is Friday how about my favs for this week.

One. I finally jumped on the essential oils band wagon. I know that I am delayed but nothing felt like it touched the cold that I had for three weeks so I thought hell why not. I can say after running the diffuser for a couple of days that I am starting to see the end of the cold now. I thought it was ending last week and it picked right back up.

Two. I'm sorry but I need this coffee cup. I love it so much and it makes me smile. I need to add more smart ass coffee cups to my collection. I think it makes the mornings better.

Three. Nordstrom's Anniversary sale kicks off today for us normal people. Make sure you check it out to get some great deals. I will picking up a few things.

Four. Living Proof Dry Shampoo is where it is at. I have crazy wavy thick hair and it takes 30 mins at least to make it look presentable. Like for real! So dry shampoo is my life saver and this has alcohol in it so it doesn't look like powder just covering up your greasy hair it actually sucks up some of the oil. I love that!

Five. Y'all this is the first year that we have watched America's Got Talent and it sure has not let us down. Really the only reason we watched it was because a friend told me that this year has a super funny guy. Well I watched it and fell in love with the funny guy. His name is tape face and I hope he goes all the way.

Thursday Confessions

Thursday, July 21, 2016

I confess.... that I have been driving around on empty all week because it it too damn hot to get out and pump gas. Alabama is ridiculous right now and being pregnant doesn't make it any easier.

I confess.... that we are going to beach in a month and I cry when I think about putting a bathing suit on this pregnant body. I still haven't purchased a pregnancy bathing suit.

I confess....that a girl at work makes me want to quit my job everyday. How can one person require that much attention every damn day. Get over yourself..no one cares.

I confess.... that i haven't put up the laundry that has been washed since last weekend. I don't have any energy and haven't needed anything out of it so who cares.

I confess.... that I want to move into a house before the baby comes but don't want to shop for a house. We hardly ever agree on the same house and it makes it more difficult to house shop. That leads to another confession of wanting to egg the people that took the last house that we actually both liked.

I confess....that I fell asleep at my desk last week and when I got caught I pretended that my neck was just hurting.

I confess.... that I want this baby to be a girl so I can dress it cute.

Friday Favs

Friday, July 15, 2016

Happy Friday Friends! I could not be more excited about the weekend. More specifically sleeping in tomorrow. I am starting to feel a little better each day and I think sleep is just what the doctor ordered.

One. I am officially in the second trimester guys. I honestly never thought that I would be able to say that and after five years of infertility I am so blessed to be caring this baby right now. The first trimester brought morning sickness, colds, and more but it has been completely worth it.

Second.  If there is one thing that has my heart it is Disney products. I grew up watching the movies so it is the one thing that reminds me takes me back to childhood. Tonight my sweet hubby is taking me to see Beauty and The Beast at our local Shakespeare Theater. I went to see the Little Mermaid last year and Cinderella at the beginning of the year but I think this may bring it in for the win.

Three.  These Beef and Bean Enchiladas are on the meal plan for this week. They look fantastic and I can wait to get the pan of these out of the oven. I am having a meat reaction here lately so this will cover up the meat enough for me to get some protein in.

Four. I need this front door mat. I love how you can show your personally with a totally awesome door mat. This one makes me smile.

Five. Also on the menu this weekend is the lovely breakfast hash. Cereal has been my go to the past few months but I know that I need to start getting protein back in. This would be the perfect recipe to do that.

Chicken Soup for the sick Pregnant Girl

Monday, July 11, 2016

this past week has been hectic, busy, and just plain  exhausting.
yesterday I thought that i was seeing the light at the end of the sickness tunnel.
I think that I may have jinxed myself and made it worse today.
oops!
Because I have been sick for a week now I figured what could make me feel better and of course
homemade chicken soup could help the feeling better process.
So that is exactly what I did yesterday.
After laying on the couch all day Saturday I got up yesterday and
made some soup to attempt to make me feel normalish.
I wanted to share the recipe with you guys while it is still fresh on my mind.
we buy our whole chickens fresh from a local farmer. They have less fat on them so you
aren't skimming all the fat off the soup while the chicken cook.

Chicken Soup
5 russet potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
6 carrots, peeled and chopped into bite size pieces
1 medium white onion, chopped
small bag of frozen corn
whole chicken
salt and pepper to taste
homemade or low sodium chicken stock

Put your chicken in a large dutch oven or pot. Fill it 3/4 full with water and cook on medium- high heat for about a hour or until you chicken is completely cooked. Take the chicken out and place in on a plate to cool. Skim the fat and chicken pieces out of the dutch oven. I use strainer to do this that way I do not have to transfer the hot pot anywhere. Toss in your potatoes, carrots, and onion. Let them cook until they are soft. This takes about 15 minutes. I always test a potato and carrot. Those usually take longer to cook than the onions do. After they are done cooking I  shred my cooled chicken with two forks or my hands. I toss the chicken in the pot and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Add your small bag of corn and stir everything together.   You can add more chicken stock at this time if needed. Sometimes I need more chicken stock and sometimes I still have enough in the pot. This is when I check for salt and pepper. I usually add some and check back in 5 minutes. You do not want to add to much at one time. Once the seasoning is just how you want it I let it simmer on low for about 20 minutes to make sure that the flavors have all married together. Then you are ready to serve.

* side note I take my two chicken legs off my whole chicken and toss them in the pot when I cook my veggies. I usually leave them in there until right before serving. The best stock comes from the chicken bones so it adds just a little extra flavor.

This recipe is super simple and very comforting when you are sick. I try to make this a couple times a year but especially when you aren't feeling well. I hope that you enjoy.

Friday Favs: Fourth of July

Friday, July 1, 2016

Happy Fourth of July weekend. Since it is a holiday weekend and it is Friday Favs I thought I would share five of my Fourth of July Favorites that make there way around our house every year.

How festive is this wonderful berry pie. I love how you incorporate the stars, stripes, and colors with the berries.

I love mason jar and what is better than a painted festive mason jar. Oh my I am in love with these.

A cute and festive door hanger is the only way to let the neighbors know that your freedom rings. I love the simple look of this door hanger but it is still enough to totally be festive.

I love this shirt. What else screams american than a stars and stripes tank. It is hot in Alabama to a tank is the perfect way to stay cool and festive.

I make this cake ever year too. It is so good with the cheesecake in the middle. And we aren't talking about from a box. This is homemade pray it doesn't crack chessecake.

I hope everyone has a safe and festive holiday. Remember to get a DD and have a fantastic time. I will be the DD this year because of little peanut....
